Modules
In this seminar, a selection of research papers from the areas of logic and verification will be discussed. These papers range from classical topics in logic and automata theory to recent research, in particular in formal verification and model checking.
This seminar is mainly intended for students enrolled in the Master Computer Science and Diplom Informatik programs.
Registration
Seminar places for the module INF-25-Ma-FTK-Sem “Seminar Theoretical Computer Science and Symbolic Artificial Intelligence” will be assigned centrally, based on students’ preferences. To register for our seminar, please indicate your preference in the poll available at https://bildungsportal.sachsen.de/umfragen/limesurvey/index.php/322922 by October 18, 2026.
If you want to take the seminar for the module CMS-SEM “Literature Studies in Computational Modeling,” please send an e-mail to studies_alg@mailbox.tu-dresden.de until October 18, 2026.
Prerequisites
For the seminar, profound knowledge in theoretical computer science and logics is presumed.
Dates
All students who have filled out the above survey for the module INF-25-Ma-FTK-Sem by the due date will be notified by e-mail about the seminar assigned to them.
Once the registration deadlines have expired, all participants of our seminar will be informed about the date and place of our initial meeting. Each participant will then receive a topic and get a supervisor. After that, further proceedings are arranged individually between each participant and their supervisor.
The required presentations and question-and-answer sessions will be held en bloc between January and March 2027. The specific dates will be announced later.

The Komplexe Leistung (complex or multi-part examination) consists of a blackboard presentation (45 minutes) and an oral question-and-answer session (10 minutes).
Master Computational Modeling and Simulation
- CMS-SEM: a 10-page seminar paper and a 30-minute presentation
