Dining Halls
The Mensa
Meals for students are being subsidized by the German state. In order to benefit, you need to ask at dedicated dining halls for students and staff at the university, referred to as Mensa. The majority of the dining halls are located at the main campus.
At the Faculty of Computer Science you are likely to eat at the Mensa in Mommsenstraße no. 13.
It is open from 10.45 am to 3 pm.
For information about other dining halls you may click the German language web page of Studentenwerk.
The Emeal
What a clever invention! This charge card-like key enables you to have lunch at a discounted rate at the Mensa restaurants. In order to obain the Emeal-card, you take the "Emeal-Bescheinigung" (which is part of your "Semesterbogen" you got from the International Office), the student's identity card, your passport and at least 5 EUR and go to the Mensa Service Point (Alte Mensa). You can reload the key at special Emeal charge terminals or at the cashier.
