Course on Standpoint Logic at ESSAI 2026 by Tim Lyon and Hannes Straß

Tim Lyon and Hannes Straß held a course entitled "Multi-Perspective Reasoning in Knowledge Representation: An Introduction to Standpoint Logic" at ESSAI 2026, the European Summer School on Artificial Intelligence, in Vienna.

Standpoint Logic is a multi-modal framework for reasoning with diverse and potentially conflicting knowledge perspectives without requiring them to be merged into a single view. The course provided an introduction to the propositional and first-order variants of standpoint logic, proof theory via nested sequents, standpoint description logics, and non-monotonic standpoint logic.

Lecture videos, slides, and relevant papers are available on the course webpage. Further details about the course can be found on the ESSAI 2026 programme page.
