Wikidata is Wikipedia's database sister and one of the major general knowledge bases found on the Web today. After only four years of operation, it has attracted contributions from more than 100,000 editors, amounting to more than 120 million statements about 25 million entities (state November 2016). In this talk, I will give an introduction to the project and to its contents, and discuss possible uses in research and applications.
